It’s out with the old and in with the new as a new administration takes charge in Washington, D.C. During the first 100 days of this new administration, the dumpster out back of the White House is likely to get filled up with lots of the old administration’s policies, and replaced with shiny new ones.
As chroniclers of “what’s eating what” up and down the food chain, we are particularly interested in policies relating to food and agriculture.
The old administration’s food and agriculture policies were focused on turning on the engines of industry, and then getting the heck out of the way. The new administration’s policies look to be significantly different.
A case in point: Whereas the old administration allowed slaughter houses to speed up their lines to increase production, the new administration announced that it has slowed the lines down in the interest of animal welfare.
In fact, the Humane Society of the United States has presented the new administration with a wish list of measures it would like to see taken to throw out the old administrations way of doing things. And that leads us to ask:
