Fortunately, Brooke had what few other children with autism have – a mother with a PhD in biochemistry and a will to fight for her daughter’s well-being.

Dr. Katherine Reid fought the good fight against her daughter’s autism, and won.  Her experience in fighting changed the way she thought about food, and led her to consider the microbiota that inhabit the intestinal tracts of our bodies.

These microorganisms, of which there are 100 trillion within each human body, perform a number of significant functions: ferment carbohydrates, train the immune system, prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, produce vitamins, and help manage the storage of fats.

Given how important these living microorganisms are to our health, we simply must ask:

What should we feed the bugs within?
