Michael Olson Food Chain Radio – Is Glyphosate in all Food?

This just in: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced that it is suspending its testing of food for the weed-killer glyphosate, which goes by the trade name “Roundup.”

This also just in: Food Democracy Now! and The Detox Project have published the results of independent tests that found glyphosate in Cheerios, Wheaties, Trix, Corn Flakes, Kashi, Cheez-Its, Ritz, Triscuits, Oreos, Doritos, Fritos, Goldfish,Whole Foods 365 Crackers, Back to Nature Energy Bars, and many more.

Both news items follow the Environmental Protection Agency’s suspension of hearings last month into glyphosate’s possible link to cancer in humans, which follows last year’s classification of glyphosate as a class 2A “probable human carcinogen” by the World Health Organization’s Agency for Research on Cancer.

That the Food and Drug administration has suspended its testing of foods for glyphosate, that independent tests have found glyphosate in a broad spectrum of popular foods, that the EPA has has suspended its hearings into glyphosate’s possible link to cancer, that the World Health Organization has classified glyphosate as a probable human carcinogen, and that Bayer AG is trying to buy Monsanto for $66 billion dollars, lead us to ask…
